EQ2066 Modem
Description
The EQ2066 modem is an industrial cellular modem with 2G/3G/4G/5G LTE connectivity. It contains a high-performance 32-bit industrial CPU and an embedded real-time operating system. It has a VPN client, two RS232 ports (or one RS232 port and one RS485 port) and a LAN port that allow devices to be connected to a cellular network conveniently and transparently.
It supports a wide power supply range (9 to 60VDC) and has a compact, rugged design. It has been widely used in M2M applications, intelligent transportation, generation, transmission and distribution of electrical power, Smart grid, industrial automation, drinking water distribution, environmental protection, weather measurement, telemetry, finance, points of sale, etc.
In its dual SIM variant, it allows two cards from different carriers to be inserted, ensuring signal availability in areas where coverage is poor.
General technical features
- Operates on 4G/3G/2G cellular networks
- High-performance 32-bit microprocessor
- RS232/RS485 ports
- Has multipurpose inputs/outputs operable via Modbus RTU: 2 analog 4-20mA, 3 digital inputs or outputs 0-3.3V
- Connects to up to five TCP servers (redundancy). The server can be your own or the provider’s server can be used.
Server communication
When conventional SIM cards are used for remote device communication, the mobile network assigns a dynamic IP address, which changes every time the modem registers on the network.
Being a dynamic address, a SCADA system or reading software will not know at which IP address the device is located, in order to establish communication.
To overcome this difficulty, this modem can be configured to initiate communication with one or more remote servers during its initialization, so that the initiator of the communication is not the server but the modem.
Upon receiving the initialization, the server establishes a communication channel that remains available for use by a SCADA system or reading software, through a virtual serial port or a TCP/IP server.
Equinox Control Expert has a specific module that carries out this function, acting as a modem concentrator.
We also offer a cloud service for connecting third-party systems, through which the customer is provided with a single fixed IP through which the connection can be established.
