Relationships between elements, assignment and editing
The defined elements are linked to each other through assignments: a Station has one or more Devices assigned to it, and Devices have one or more Communication Channels and Scan Groups assigned to them.
Some considerations:
- Stations are at the top of the hierarchy and therefore are not assigned to any other element
- A Device cannot be shared by several Stations; it must belong to a single Station
- There is no limit to the number of Devices that can be assigned to a Station
- There is no limit to the number of Scan Groups that can be assigned to a Device
- There is no limit to the number of communication Channels that can be assigned to a Device. This makes it possible to achieve multiple paths: if errors occur on one channel, the system will sequentially try the other available channels.
- A Scan Group can be assigned to several Devices, so if you have several identical devices it is neither necessary nor recommended to define the same group multiple times; instead, define it once and reuse it.
- A Communication Channel can be assigned to several Devices; in that case each Device must have a different address. They will be polled sequentially by the Channel.
